Catarina — Hand-Bound Cotton Sculpture

A study in contrast and quiet balance. This one-of-a-kind sculpture gathers hundreds of strands of natural cotton, flowing freely, drawn through a bold charcoal ring and cinched at the waist with a hand-wrapped band of deep black thread and a single line of gold.

The ring’s brushed metallic finish catches light along its edges, while the pale jute glows warm against it, especially in a sunlit window. The piece stands upright on a solid black base, so it needs no wall or hanging. Set it on a console, shelf, mantel, or desk where it can be seen from every side.

Every strand is cut, gathered, and bound by hand, so no two pieces are exactly alike. Small variations in fiber and finish are part of its character.

Care
Keep out of humid spaces. To dust, use a soft, dry brush or a hairdryer on its cool setting. If the fibers shift, gently comb them back into place with your fingers.
